Meet Courtney McFarlin
Founder of Fresh Batch Innovations
Second chances. Bold ideas. A life still being formed.
Courtney McFarlin is a wife, mom, inventor, entrepreneur, and woman of faith with a mind that rarely stops asking, “But what if?”
Her story includes addiction, recovery, rebuilding, motherhood, and surviving stage IV cancer. Those experiences shaped her curiosity into something personal: a desire to create useful things, help people explore their ideas, and remind others that their story still holds possibilities.
The people at the center of it all
Courtney’s husband of 15 years, Trey, and their sons, Cannon and Cruz, are at the heart of everything she builds.
Trey has stood beside her through change, uncertainty, forgiveness, recovery, and growth. Their life together carries the work of rebuilding, the strength of commitment, and the everyday choice to keep showing up for each other.
Cannon and Cruz give Courtney love, motivation, perspective—and plenty of reasons to laugh. She wants them to see what it looks like to ask questions, try something difficult, keep learning, and use what God has given them.
Behind the companies and ambitious ideas is a family she loves deeply. Their encouragement and the life they share give those ambitions meaning.
How CrystaShield sparked Fresh Batch
At 36, Courtney was diagnosed with stage IV colorectal cancer.
During chemotherapy, she navigated life with an accessed implanted port, external tubing, and a portable infusion pump. She experienced how complicated ordinary activities could become and began imagining something that could make that experience easier.
That question became CrystaShield, a medical device in development designed to protect an accessed implanted port and help secure external tubing during take-home infusions. Its design, performance, and regulatory requirements remain subject to testing and professional validation.
Developing CrystaShield opened another possibility: building a home for the ideas that kept coming.
Fresh Batch Innovations was born.
Its mission, “We investigate the impossible,” captures Courtney’s enthusiasm for questions that deserve a closer look—even when the answer isn’t obvious.
Why she loves investigating your ideas
Courtney gets excited when someone brings her an idea they can’t stop thinking about.
She loves exploring the problem, imagining who a solution could help, connecting possibilities, and working toward a practical next step. Something challenging, unfamiliar, or a little unexpected tends to make her more curious.
She also knows how vulnerable it can feel to say an idea out loud. New entrepreneurs deserve someone who will listen, ask useful questions, and take their curiosity seriously.
Through Fresh Batch, she wants to help people examine their ideas honestly: understand what makes them promising, identify what needs work, and decide where to go next.
That same imagination reaches into Brain Raid, an immersive virtual-reality entertainment concept in development. It gives her room to explore another part of what she loves: creativity, shared experiences, and the excitement of building something new and fun.
Why P.O.T.T.E.R. is so personal
Courtney knows the work involved in rebuilding a life.
Recovery challenged her to take responsibility, reconsider who she was, and discover what she wanted her life to stand for. Cancer brought another season of uncertainty and change. Through those experiences, her relationship with Jesus became central to understanding her worth and purpose.
Those chapters helped inspire The Potter Project.
Rooted in the imagery of the potter and clay in Jeremiah 18, Potter creates space for people to reflect on who they are, explore their God-given purpose, and take meaningful steps forward.
“You don’t have to be broken to be shaped.”
Courtney cares deeply about people in a season of transformation: navigating addiction or recovery, struggling with faith, starting over, searching for identity, or simply wondering what comes next.
She wants them to feel welcome before they have the answers.
The developing workbook and companion P.O.T.T.E.R. bracelet bring that intention into practical form, offering different ways to carry reflection and encouragement into everyday life.
P.O.T.T.E.R.—Pray Over Today. Trust. Evaluate. Rediscover.
Still becoming. Still building.
Courtney doesn’t claim to have everything figured out. She is still learning, growing, and discovering what this next chapter holds.
She hopes to build useful solutions, encourage other entrepreneurs, and help people recognize possibilities in their own lives. She wants Trey, Cannon, and Cruz to know how deeply they are appreciated—and to share in a future worth building together.
Her past helped shape her. Her faith continues to guide her. And she believes there is meaningful work ahead.
Through Fresh Batch Innovations, she is putting that belief into action—one question, one idea, and one next step at a time.
